Since we're planning on taking our engagement photos while we're back in Wilmington for Thanksgiving, I am on a mad search for the perfect face makeup to wear for our photos. I know this makeup is probably not going to be an "every day" wear, but I really want it to look good in photos, but not too "i'm performing in a ballet." Also, wondering if I should use a primer or not? I normally don't...
In doing some research these are a couple brands I found people say are good for photos:
Estee Lauder Double Wear/MAC Studio Fix/Smashbox Foundation Primer/Revlon Photo Ready Makeup/Make Up Forever |
I have found that I like liquid over powder, because I have pretty dry skin. But I also have found that liquid can create more shine, and I obviously don't want that. Does anyone have any good reccos for photography face-makeup? Or any other good tips/advice for engagement pics?
I've always been extremely particular about foundation, and it's the only product that I never feel bad for spending a little more on. My favourite to date is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. It's like the one you mentioned, only it's not as heavy. I've probably went through 3 bottles so far, and I'm still loving it. It doesn't hide EVERYTHING, but if I add a bit of concealer to those areas, than I'm good to go!
ReplyDeleteI was the same way as you and felt like I could never find the perfect foundation. I tried Diorskin Forever by Dior and loved it! It's a little pricey but so worth it. I wore it on my wedding day and was thrilled when I saw the pictures and that it photographed well. Now it's my everyday foundation. So that's another option!
ReplyDeleteI use Nars tinted moisturizer and I love it (actually rave about it in next week's post!). I don't think you can go wrong with any Nars product!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I don't have much advice about concealers. Do, however, wear more make-up than usual for the photos! It may seem a little but make-up never shows up as much in pictures as it does in person!
ReplyDeleteThe Estee Lauder one is incredible!
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled on your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteI wear the Estee Lauder Doublewear everyday - love it! However, I have read and agree it can cast a white appearance in photos. I would go for one specifically designed for photos like HD or Smashbox.
Go to Sephora and get them to color match you with their cool new device! They take the device and match your neck, cheek, and chest to see exactly what color and foundation you are. I got mine done and love my foundation. Ended up being matched w/ Loreal foundation and primer! I definitely recommend a primer for your makeup to stay on you longer. I also got a Clinque pressed powder to put on top just incase and to even it all out! Definitely recommend Sephora!
